ATTIRE: because we always have a theme Dress as your favorite Winter character (think... Elsa, Grinch, Griswold, Cindy Lou, Elf, Snowman, get creative!). There will be prizes for best outfit!
FOOD: There will be a buffet of select delicious appetizers from the Layla's menu for Members and your guest.

M Factor & Workshop
Join us on December 12th for an evening of learning and discussion on the peri and menopause stage of life. The M Factor is a first-of-its-kind documentary that challenges the silence surrounding menopause and advocates for a revolution in women’s healthcare. This film sheds light on the real-life experiences of women and the urgent need for change in how we address this critical phase of life. Watch trailer.
After the film viewing, Certified Menopause Specialist, Rachel Drayer, PAC will lead a discussion on the changes to eating, sleeping and exercise necessary to successfully navigate the peri/menopause stage of life. Rachel is ONE of FOUR Certified Menopause Specialists in the State of Washington.
Rachel is the owner of Vitality Wenatchee, offering personalized hormone therapy, longevity testing, and wellness services tailored to your unique needs.

WORKSHOP: Hatha 101

Ottie is excited to dig deeper into the history, philosophy and basics of her favorite yoga style. In this class she will break down the main postures in the 26 sequence Hatha flow and help you learn more about how to get into the posture, how to hold the posture properly and of course breathe.

Summer Solstice: 108 Sun Salutations
Greet the Sun
The summer solstice marks the first day of summer, when the sun reaches the highest point in the sky. The day is long, and the night is short. The sun is most potent on the summer solstice and is recognized as a time of powerful healing.
The summer solstice is an opportunity to rejuvenate your spirit and reconnect with yourself and the natural world by creating solstice rituals where we linger in the power of the longest, lightest day of the year.
End your solstice day with 108 sun salutations - surya namaskar. Surya means “sun” in sanskrit, while namaskar comes from nama “to bow down”. Sun salutations are a sequence of yoga poses (or asanas) that are typically performed at the beginning of a yoga flow class as a way to align oneself to the present and enter a meditative state. What could be more perfect in showing gratitude to the sun on the solstice than a sequence of poses that honor the center of light and provider of all energy on Earth?
Our Summer Solstice celebration will open with a guided meditation, then Christina will guide you through completing 108 Sun Salutations and we’ll finish with a 30 minute sound bath restorative yoga session led by Caroline and a complimentary glass of Anima Mundi Calm Iced Sweet Tea.
$10 for members/$30 for a drop-in. Also includes a lovely set of mala beads for the guided meditation.

WORKSHOP: Beginner Olympic Lifting
Introduction to the basic foundational movements of Olympic Weightlifting (Clean & Jerk, Snatch). Including squats, deadlift, presses, pulls, core engagement. Movement as Medicine Workshop w/Jill Pollard
Join instructor and guide Jill Pollard for a beautiful Movement as Medicine Class. We will focus on releasing tension, strengthening and toning, and having FUN! Movement is a practice and gift for the mind, body AND soul and with this class we want to bring awareness down into the body for somatic release, internal core work, and playful dance. If you want to get your groove on while getting your nervous system recalibrated, then join us for class!

An annual tradition! Join us at the lower parking lot of the Echo Ridge trails for a morning of snowshoeing plus yoga. We will finish with soup in the upper parking lot yurt. Always an incredible community event with your fellow Barn members!

Winter Solstice Restorative Yin
Winter Solstice Restorative Yin with Rae Helsel
“As the sun stands still” is the meaning of the word “solstice”, and it’s a powerful day in the year to ground and reflect on where we’ve been, as well as where we want to be intentionally placing our faith, our hopes, and our energy as we move forward. This practice will hold space for internal shifts and external freedom of movement as we come together to pause, open, and relax.
Class will start with a moving meditation that calms the nervous system, reduces stress/inflammation, and supports the immune system. Then move into restorative and yin shapes that create more muscle pliability, opens up a wider range of motion in the joints, and nourishes the connective tissues in the body. Gentle hands-on assists will help drop you into the body’s innate relaxation response, and after savasana we will close with a fireside ceremony and warming beverage.

About Rae: Rae has been teaching yoga for almost 15 years, and is a mindful restorative yin instructor who incorporates meditation, medical qi gong, and neuroscience into the classes and trainings she leads. She discovered yoga and meditation while living through the uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatments in college, and she has experienced in the very depths of her cells that this practice can heal, restore, and empower the mind, body, and spirit. Rae has over 2,000 hours of education and her mission is to normalize slowing down in an over-worked and under-rested culture.
